Project Description

Project Overview

Garden Links completed this kindergarten playground installation in Dahiat Namar, Riyadh, creating a varied outdoor play area with climbing, sliding, swinging, crawling and jumping activities.

The project was installed within an existing covered kindergarten outdoor space and uses several individual play elements rather than relying on one large structure. This gives younger children different ways to move, explore and play within the same recreation area.

The completed setup includes a multi-activity climbing frame, playground slides, swings, a colorful crawl-through tunnel, small playhouses, a trampoline and an obstacle pathway made with tires.

Playground Equipment Installed

Multi-Activity Climbing Frame

One of the main features of the project is the large multi-activity climbing frame.

Instead of providing only one climbing route, the structure combines several movement activities within the same frame. Children can use the vertical climbing grids, ladder sections, rope ladder and hanging rings to move through the equipment in different ways.

This type of setup gives a kindergarten playground more variety without filling the outdoor area with several separate climbing structures.

Slides and Elevated Play Structure

A separate multi-play structure adds elevated play and sliding activities to the kindergarten area.

The structure includes an elevated platform together with straight and spiral slides, allowing children to use different routes through the equipment.

The slides complement the climbing equipment by adding another type of movement to the overall playground rather than repeating the same activity.

Swings and Suspended Play Activities

The project also includes swing and suspended movement equipment.

A toddler-style swing seat provides a seating option for younger children, while additional suspended elements add movement and coordination activities within the climbing frame.

Positioning these activities alongside climbing and sliding equipment creates a broader range of play choices within the kindergarten playground.

Crawl Tunnel, Playhouses and Tire Obstacle Course

The colorful crawl-through tunnel provides a low-level activity that differs from the taller climbing equipment.

Its segmented design allows children to crawl through the tunnel while remaining close to ground level.

Small plastic playhouses add another type of play area, while the painted tire pathway creates an additional obstacle and movement activity within the outdoor space.

Together, these elements help prevent the kindergarten playground from depending only on slides and swings.

Trampoline Activity Area

A trampoline was also included in the project.

This creates a separate jumping activity within the kindergarten recreation space and adds another movement option alongside climbing, crawling, sliding and swinging.

By combining different activities, the playground can support more varied use throughout the play period.

Materials Used

The installed equipment uses a combination of materials suited to the different playground components.

Visible materials in this project include:

  • Coated metal frames and structural posts
  • Molded plastic slides and play components
  • Plastic toddler swing seating
  • Rope climbing elements
  • Hanging rings and suspended accessories
  • Molded plastic crawl tunnel sections
  • Plastic children’s playhouses
  • Rubber tires used within the obstacle pathway
  • Trampoline fabric and supporting frame components

The exact material grades and technical specifications vary by individual playground item and should be confirmed from the product specification where required.

Installation Process

The Garden Links team installed the playground equipment within the kindergarten’s existing outdoor recreation area in Dahiat Namar.

The installation included positioning the individual play activities, assembling the metal climbing frames, fitting suspended accessories, installing the swing elements, placing the tunnel and playhouses, and arranging the additional activity equipment within the available site.

The different units were distributed across the outdoor area so that climbing, sliding, swinging, crawling and jumping activities could function as separate play experiences rather than being concentrated in one location.

Playground Planning for a Kindergarten

Kindergarten playgrounds require a different equipment mix from playgrounds designed mainly for older school children.

For this project, the equipment provides both low-level and elevated activities.

Children can move between:

  • Crawling through the play tunnel
  • Using the playhouses
  • Swinging
  • Climbing ladders and grids
  • Using hanging rings
  • Moving through the tire obstacle pathway
  • Sliding from the multi-play structure
  • Jumping on the trampoline

This mixture creates several activity choices within one kindergarten outdoor play area.
